Thoughts on Writing/Reading/Blogging – Part Two

So, I wonder what happens… Do people actually bother reading blog posts? And actually read them from beginning to end in a linear fashion.  Whilst not missing bits out?

If you asked them a question about it afterwards, would they be able to answer it? I mean a very specific question, such as “What would you do if you were in the situation of the person called [whatever his/her name is] was in, that the blog poster was describing?”  Questions like this.  Would the so-called ‘reader’ even know what you meant? They should be able to give a proper response, that is, assuming they actually even read the stuff properly.

How much of viewers’ activity is simply ‘clickety-click through’ and/or ‘swipey-swipe through’, with little or no attention given to the content.  What would happen if they paused and actually read through content?  And perhaps had a look at what other content was being displayed?

Perhaps, perhaps, it just might be worth it…

Thoughts on Writing/Reading/Blogging – Part One

Are you interested in writing? But not so interested in reading? Do you want your stuff to be seen? But don’t really want to look at others’ stuff?

Is that bad?

Should a person feel guilty for being the ‘writer who won’t read’?  Isn’t it like an ‘artist’ who has hardly any appreciation for, you know, ‘art’ (that other artists produce)?

I kind of feel, that there is quite a number of us out there who would match some of those descriptions.

But, we live in an age of mass media, digital content, huge amounts of information, all at our fingertips on demand. It is easy to miss things. There is too much out there, to pay attention to it all.

People have also become self-obsessed. Instead of giving attention, always wanting to be the centre of it.

The mindset of the norm nowadays: “Hey, look at ME! MEEE! ME!!!!! … ‘You’??? ‘You’ who??? Anyway, look at ME!!!”

So, I wonder what happens…

This article will continue in another blog post.

To be continued…

Food for Thought – Reading and Writing

Just some food for thought about the topic of Reading and that of Writing.

  • What do you like to read?
  • What do you like to write?
  • * How might you interlink the two? *

writing picture

I guess that can work in more than one way…

The things that you read can influence what you write.  What you write might reflect what you read.

Not everyone reads the exact same genre that they write though, or the other way around.

However, Perhaps you can contribute writing to the genre that you normally read even if you don’t normally write in that genre.  This can be a new writing challenge, maybe.

Perhaps, also, you can read more into the genre that you like writing in, if you don’t already do much reading in that genre.  Maybe this would give new insights in your own writing.

These are just some ideas I was contemplating, but I thought I’d share as well.  Fairly straightforward.  Nothing too complicated.
